We are hosting a grassroots all black and brown Masquerade-themed celebration and meet-and-greet in Mount Crested Butte all day Friday and Saturday, March 1st and March 2nd. Friday’s meet up will be followed by a fun dance party in the heart of Crested Butte @ The Talk of the Town Bar starting at 8pm with a live hip-hop DJ at 9pm.

What is a Masquerade?

During a typical holiday season throughout the Caribbean, you will almost certainly hear the lively sounds of masquerade bands making their way through the streets. The dancing, drumming, elaborate costumes and effigies of the colonial masquerade bands originated in religious festivals of the Igbo and Yoruba tribes of Nigeria.
